    Co-Founder
    Chief Executive Officer

    Toby has worked with ministries and non-profits in the technology space for close to two decades. Toby has served in roles including Global Chief Information Officer, and Chief Technology Officer before co-founding Rooted Software, as well as his own non-profit. An enthusiastic technology leader, he has experience in leading: non-profit business process improvement, project management, app development teams, and CRM and system implementations. Originally from the UK, Toby lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is married to Rebekah, and they have four children.

    Chief Technology Officer

    Joshua spent the first 6 years of his professional career in the Army. He gained a firm understanding of teamwork and dedication. He has over 20 years of experience in IT and software development and has worked extensively with non-profits and ministries. He is married to Kelly and they have 4 kids.

  • Deron

    Director of Customer Operations

    Deron was born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where he obtained an undergraduate degree in Business/Management. Through his career and post-graduate studies in Computer Science, Deron has enjoyed being able to combine his professional first love of team building with a lifelong passion for technology in such roles as Chief Technology officer, lead software developer, and process engineer.

    Deron lives in West Chester, Pennsylvania with his wife, daughter, and dog. He enjoys taking hikes, playing any instrument he can figure out how to play, reading, and even a little programming on the side. On the weekends you can find him enjoying his church community or visiting local friends and family.

    Customer Operations Manager

    Chris grew up in Southern Indiana before moving to Nashville, TN, where she attended Lipscomb University and earned a degree in Social Work. Shortly after graduating, she met her husband Raul, and they decided to make the Middle Tennessee area their home. Together, they founded a Homeless Ministry in Nashville in 2011 and have collaborated with various non-profits, churches, and local ministries. They also have a strong passion for overseas mission work and look forward to involving their three children in those experiences in the future. With nearly 15 years of experience as a Licensed Social Worker, Chris has primarily focused her career in the Healthcare and SaaS industries. The opportunity to merge Healthcare with SaaS at Rooted Software has been particularly exciting, allowing her to contribute to helping others in innovative ways.

  • Ben

    Director, Nonprofit Solutions

    Ben grew up in south central Pennsylvania and went to college in South Carolina, where he met his wife, Leah. They moved to Virginia Beach, VA in 2017 and have lived there since. In addition to working for Rooted Software, Ben enjoys co-hosting a podcast, editing music, doing anything outside, and being with friends and family.

  • Kayla

    Customer Relations and Marketing Manager

    With a diverse background in customer success across industries—from restaurants to healthcare and fashion—Kayla brings a wealth of experience to the Rooted Software team. Outside of work, Kayla enjoys quality time with her husband and their three children, volunteering in her local church nursery, catching a baseball game, listening to true-crime podcasts, and savoring a good cup of coffee.

    Solutions Consultant

    David grew up in Southern California, where he met his wife, Courtney. They recently made the move from California to Indiana to be closer to family. David and Courtney have two young children and are loving the change of pace in Indiana. David has been serving ministries his entire life and loves to use his experience to help others.

  • Charles

    Manager, IT

    Charles has spent over 15 years in the service of ministry with more than half that in IT. With over 8 years of experience in IT, he has worked in several positions, including service desk and systems administration. He is married to his wife, Kate.

  • Todd

    Service Desk Technician

    Todd began his career in the Army working on Apache helicopters, and then went onto earn an Electronics Technology degree. He has served as an IT technician for a local church, an IT manager for a school, and as a Zendesk support technician. Todd is married to his youth group sweetheart, Sally, and they have 2 children.

  • Luke

    Service Desk Technician

    Luke is originally from Florida but moved to Colorado Springs in 2020. Luke worked at Walmart for 9 months as a shelf stocker before he started as an intern for Rooted. He is working on getting his Associates of Applied Science Cyber Security Degree by 2023. In his free time, Luke loves playing video games, board games, relaxing at home, and building computers.

    Daniel

    Service Desk Technician

    Daniel was born and raised overseas to missionary parents.  He has been a volunteer firefighter and EMT since 2014.  Daniel has worked with computers his whole life and is currently studying to transition into a career in IT/cybersecurity.  When not working on building a home computer lab to test and learn new skills he enjoys being outdoors, fixing things, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his wife and 4 dogs.

    Service Desk Technician

    Tom is a Colorado native, born and raised in the Denver area. He has worked with ministries and non-profits for over 28 years and over 17 of those years have been in IT. Tom is married, has 3 daughters, 1 son-in-law, and a new granddaughter. He loves hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, and kayaking. Tom also enjoys spending time with family and friends and serving at his church.

    IT Dispatcher

    Edward was born in Hong Kong and moved to San Francisco when he was in middle school. He is married to Daisy, and they live in the San Francisco Bay area with their three boys. He has a B.A. in Biblical Studies from the Master’s University and also a culinary degree. Edward and his family love cooking and serving others, and spending time with their church family.

    Director, Systems Consulting

    Sam worked in sales and customer service for a large distributor for 6 years before joining Rooted. He also holds a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Ministry and enjoys helping people thrive through Christian and local church ministry. Sam and his wife, Rachel, have 3 daughters.

  • David

    SQL Software Developer

    David Scott spent the first years of his professional career as an educator in Art and Technology. From there he moved into full time Graphic Design producing everything from logos to textbooks and became well acquainted with the print industry. This led from Database Publishing to full time work in Information Technology and Database Administration, supporting clients in everything from website development to Enterprise Management Software.

    Business Systems Analyst

    Jon was born in Haiti, spent some time in New Brunswick, Canada, and then ended up in the northeastern part of Wisconsin from 5th grade through college graduation. He moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia in 2008 and has been there ever since. Jon has been married to his wife, Marla, since 2011 and they have two boys. Jon and his family love to have friends around their table, make music, play games, read books, play sports, and spend time with their church family.

    Nonprofit Systems Consultant

    Barnabas started off his career in education, and after 7 years made a pivot to the tech industry. Since then he has worked with non-profits to support their software and technology use. His love for working with non-profits have kept him in this industry.

    Barnabas and his wife, Katy, have 4 daughters. They love to be outdoors enjoying creation and spending time with their local church body.

  • Marla

    Project Manager and Planning Center Consultant

    Marla has worked with nonprofits for over a decade, providing administrative, organizational, and technical support. She also spent 10 years teaching English as a Second Language and General Education courses in colleges and universities. In her spare time, Marla enjoys reading, playing piano, being outside, and attempting to keep plants alive. She and her husband, Jon, have two boys, and they live in Virginia Beach, VA.

  • Andrew Stroud

    Systems Project Manager

    Andrew was raised in rural upstate New York. After college in West Virginia he moved to Norfolk, Virginia to pursue graduate theological studies. He is married to Virginia and they have a young daughter. Before joining Rooted, Andrew worked as a project manager for a commercial general contractor. He enjoys Buffalo Bills football, Civil War history, a wide variety of podcasts, and spending time with his family.

    Manager, Data Services

    Terry has over 20 years of experience in varied fields; from web development to industrial technology. He manages projects with creative solutions and has worked with several nonprofits in the past. Terry lives in Florida with his wife, Jeanette, and their four young children.

  • Maddi

    Data Migration Engineer

    Maddi served in a nonprofit as a database administrator before joining Rooted. She has a passion for helping nonprofits inspire generosity through technology. Originally from Washington, DC, she currently lives in Indianapolis, Indiana with her cat and dog.

  • Rich

    Data Migration Engineer

    Rich has been active in non-profits for decades; he enjoys bringing information technology solutions to complex problems. He has served his local community teaching classes on technology as well as serving on various boards over the years. He has earned a Bachelor of Science with majors in Business Administration and Bible, as well as a Master of Library Science, and spent years working in IT. He enjoys spending time with his family, going on walks, and genealogy.

  • Marshal

    Manager, Application Development; Senior Full-Stack Engineer

    For over 25 years Marshal has built custom software solutions and leveraged technology to help startups, non-profits, and educational institutions achieve their goals. Along the way, Marshal has also served as a pastor, church planter, and taught Bible and Theology at Northpoint Bible College. He is married to Stacy and they have 2 kids.

  • Kyle

    CRM & Business Apps Technician

    Kyle’s IT career has been focused in the cloud application space (primarily the Microsoft 365 platform). He serves clients both in a consultative as well as an architecting capacity. He is married, has two children (a daughter and a son), and operates a small hobby farm in Colorado.

  • Peter

    Full-Stack Developer

    Peter grew up and went to college in central Florida, then moved to Tennessee where he met his wife, Susan. Peter has spent the last decade creating software for churches and non-profits alongside his work in the cyber security field. Away from his desk, Peter enjoys spending time outside hiking, rock climbing, and mountain biking, and serves at his local church on the production and worship teams.

    Christian Christiansen

    Accounting and HR Manager

    Christian cut his teeth in tech as a systems administrator and later with tech startups facilitating inside sales, but remembered his first love, economics, and finance. For the last 16 years, he has worked extensively with small and startup businesses sorting out personnel, tax, and accounting issues.

    Christian volunteers in his church as a junior high and children’s ministries volunteer as well as with a local homeless gospel outreach ministry. He and his wife, Lindsay, have 5 kids who occupy their time and hearts.

    Finance & Administration

    Amy was raised in the ministry home of a Pastor/Missionary and grew up in California and Australia. She graduated from a Christian college with a desire to be active in her local church and in gospel ministry. She has worked and volunteered in several ministries including various churches, kids choir programs, Christian camps, a crisis pregnancy center, a missions headquarter, and a local homeless ministry. It fills her cup to do something that has an eternal impact and actively serve the body of Christ. She currently lives in the San Francisco area with her three children.
